Expressive Arts Therapy utilizes a wide range of art modalities in the service of human growth, development and healing. You know how a song can exactly capture how you feel in a way that you can't express in words? You know the feeling you get when you read a poem or see a photograph that brings tears to your eyes and you can't explain why? Art touches us in places that we can't always reach with ordinary language, and those are often the places we need to go when we want to open up to the deepest parts of ourselves.
Creativity is at the core of who we are as human beings, and when we engage with our lives creatively, we open up to fresh possibilities and greater aliveness. Working this way is also a lot of fun.
But what if I'm not creative?
I believe that everyone is creative--including you! It's an inherent part of who we are as human beings. We all loved to dance and sing and draw when we were little, until we got the message that we were somehow not good at it. It's never been true.
